Window channel felt

I recently replaced all 4 window channels on my '72 280SEL. I put OEM channel in the front (because I found enough at a cheap price) but put an alternate in the rear. The rear actually perform better than the front.

The channel for the rear came in 8' lengths and it took one per window.

I have the part number that I bought at work. I'll try to post the exact part I bought tomorrow. Good prices comparatively. Looks exactly the same.

The part I bought from Restoration Specialties was 8-A-2 on page 8 of their catalog in the 96" length. It was $31 for 8' and one length did one door. They say oversize shipping applies to the 96" length but in reality, they rolled it up and there was no up charge. This beats the $50 - $60 per meter that everyone else seems to want although there are a couple of sites that will sell a 20 meter roll for about $300.00 but that is enough for two cars.

i had the glass out when I did it but not sure that it is required. I need to replace the front windows again and just purchased a new piece for the driver front door. Funny, but the aftermarket channel in the rear doors is still fine but the front has totally failed

I can’t answer that. It was 12 years ago and I hade the entire car apart including wing windows out and regulators removed.

Perhaps someone else can help.
