It doesn't list the R170 but it does say the W202. I think the suspension set of an R170 and W202 is the same. Correct?

I agree with 430, it should work.

Should work on the W208 and W210 as well.
I just started to consider replacing all my shocks. If I am JUST going to replace them...(more)

with OEM fits, not changing springs, do I need this spring compressor ? I have a generic one that we use on other cars, will that work ? btw..I am currently leaning towards Bilstein HD shocks...

No, unfortunatly the generic spring compressor will not work on the SLK springs.

If you are just replacing your shocks you should not need a spring compressor, regardless of brand of shocks.
that one looks the same as:

http://www.technictool.com/merc.table.htm

TST1801 Spring Compressor for front and rear axle springs. Applicable: W107, 116, 123, 124, 126, 129, 140, 170, 201, 202, 208, 210

BTW, if anyone going to call the Technic Tool Supply at 1-800-637-8738, to check the price, please post how much they want here.

I might sound like a n00b. But what is it for? Adjust the hight automatically or a "quick fix" lowering set?
Spring Compressors allow you to remove and install your suspensionsprings. So if you have purchased and set of RENNtech springs and want to install them you use the spring compressor to compress and remove the old springs. Then you use it to compress and install the new springs.
