I know the fiber optic system is a little finnicky. If I remove my CD Changer from my 2000 E55, will I have any problems with the unit? Currently, I only use the Nav, Radio, and Aux Input. Just no use for the CD Changer so thought I might sell it.

Thanks in advance

James, you can remove the cd changer and get a small connector that loops together the fiber optic cables. All that does is take the changer out of the loop so it does not see it anymore. The part is cheap and should work fine. I can try to find a part number for you

I believe the PN is A000 545 33 84. From my research it appears that this is the only thing need, just as you said. I just posted in the 210 forum to see if anyone has any direct experience.

It should work without that connector if your CD-changer is the only device in the D2B fibre loop. If you have a phone kit, Sound system amplifier on fibre ring, tele-aid or something like that, then the connector is essential.

I went to MB today to pick up the part. Came back home and removed my CD-Changer and thought I would just try the stereo to see if it worked. Sure enough, it did. I have the Telephone package so figured I would need the connector. Perhaps the phone is disconnected from the loop...I dont know.

Anyways, if anyone is ever in need of this part, just Paypal me $7.00 and I will send it to you. It isnt worth the gas for me to take it back and return it to MB.

Thanks again for the help on this one.
