Wide angle mirrors (possible trade for "older" version?)

Hello all, first I'll give a brief introduction of myself since this is my first post then explain the title. I'm Dan and I live in Calgary though I'm from CZ originally. Big car enthusiast. Own a 3BG Passat Variant (my baby) and recently bought a B200T for the girlfriend. I pretty much do all the work on my cars from oil changes to detailing. My Passat is not winter driven - thats how anal I am. I go by the username "1Point8TDan" on VWvortex.com

The car: 2006 CPO, fully loaded including xenons. Atoll Blue. The car front was resprayed before I purchased it including the mirrors. Had 45,000km and put about 2,000km on it in three months.

Anyways, today I received a pair of wide angle mirrors from ebay.de. They aren't a direct fit because Europe used a different system up to 2008.

My question is: do they make wide angle mirrors for the newer style?

If not, anyone want to swap mirrors???

Welcome to the forum Dan.

Nice looking car but what is all that white stuff on the ground around it:)

Sunny In Surrey (today anyhow)
Probably because the 2009 EU model uses the same housing as the Canadian version.

The snow don't bother me as much as the temperature!

Actually snow bothers me b/c that means gravel on the road and rock chips. :( Notice the tape on the front.

So even in Europe they don't make wide angle mirrors for the newer mirrors???

-25 at high noon

We will not complain out here on the coast even thou it snowed for April 1, and we say Mother Nature has no sense of humour.

Idan I have checked on the UK ebay site and no one is listing the type of mirror glass you want. One of listings showed a wide angle mirror but only for the 'original' mirror as in your bottom photo. It may be worth you looking on the German Ebay site http://www.ebay.de/

Spiegelglas is mirror glass but don't know what 'wide angle' would be.

Here is someone selling the 'wrong type' on German Ebay site

I bought from "MB-Teileshop" on ebay.de Super nice guy to deal with. Sending them back today.

I'm sure that's how mine are? Can you not order them through an MB dealership?

Not an MB Canada dealership. :( Are both sides like that?
Why don't you try those convex wide angle mirrors? I have them. It is useful in helping you parallel park. I shoulder-check whenever I change lane. Never depend on mirrors.

Plain and simple: I like the OEM look better. :D Looks like it will be my last resort.
If your side mirrors (flat on the driver's side) are adjusted properly, there will be no blind spot. You should not be able to see the side of the car in the mirror from your normal seating position.

That said, I do like the convex driver's side mirrors, because they cut down on glare from the lights of passing cars.

You tell that to the G/F. Every stop shes adjusting all the mirrors and still complains about not seeing right. I don't know how many times she cut cars off already because she claimed she did not see them. I don't adjust the side mirrors and have no problem driving the car.

These are easily available for VW's and its one mod I never bought for my Passat.
