Why? WHY, I ASK does NOBODY on this board EVER mention the Audi A8 as an alternative!? Seriously, I want your feedback. I think these cars are awesome, but know little of them, as apperantly does everyone else. All anyone talks about is W140 vs. Lexus, BMW, and FINALLY somebody wieghed in with Infiniti (he's right, that engine is NO joke whatsoever). NO one thinks the new a8 offers what the W140 does; individuality, non-cookie cutter style, massive size, long standing heritage? No one?

Ac... I somewhat agree w/ you on that. Its certainly more of a natural comparison between audi and Lexus. I believe the posts are comparing German vs. Jap here which makes no sense to me at all from a prestige point of view. The Jap cars are oversized camries in my book and always will. The a8 will always appear to me that the guy didnt want to be noticed as much as MB and/or wanted to save 10 to 30K. Then gets kiked so hard in the BALLS[]when he goes to trade it in, hes to imbarrased to discuss it. Besides, poll 100 driver from mercedes, 100 from bmw, 100 from audi...What would one find. The audi guy NOT as much of an enthusiast. The new A8 very handsome car indeed but i dont hear or see any consistant following

Thanks for the compliment AND the thoughts! I'm not joking, this (0% mention of A8) really has been a long running mystery for me, and this latest "LS400 or..." just was the last straw. And I agree with your views on this, I think once you get past the A4, the Audi buyer is generally not an enthusiast. But there has to be some guy like "me" driving one of these things.

I've always been a fan of the Audi S8, from the time I first saw on crusing down the road, to the first time I got to drive one. I'd still like to own a Audi S8 one day.

Again, this "mention" of other cars comes up all the time in posts where the topic is generally "w140 vs xxx". In those posts, there HAS to be ANOTHER CAR mentioned[)][]

For the same reason you don't hear of Jaguar and Infiniti. Lexus has raised the bar so much it is impossible to remove them from the picture. I agree the Audi A8 is an awesome machine, with gracious looks, and superb engineering (Aluminium frame, superb engine, and AWD), and in the case of the S4, S8, mate mindblowing power to RWD and V8s, which noone else does. They are truly awesome machines.
