Hi,
The stock CD changer in our wagon skips very easily. As soon as the vehicle runs over a slight bump on the road, the changer skips.
I have factory CD changers on both my W124 and W163 (no sold) and this never happened with either one. On both those vehicles, you had to run over a very big bump in order for the CD changer to skip and this rarely occured.
I also notice that the stock sound system in the W210 is no where near in quality compared to my W124. In the W210 it sounds, from the driver's seat, as if the balance is shifted toward the right. I checked the balance setting and the speakers on the driver's side and everything works properly. You would think MB would improve vehicles as years go by by in this respect, they missed the boat.
Opinions are welcome.
Thanks

If your changer is set for vertical operation, but is actually horizontal (or the other way around), it will skip much more easily.

Clean it

and check the mounts
I can go over some pretty big speed bumps in our 99 wagon and no skips.

Thanks for the replies. Do you advise removing it to clean it or can it be done while installed?

Why do you say the stock audio is not good? I have stock and a lot of people ask me if I have replaced speakers with better ones. I think it does a pretty darn job.

The sound distribution / balance is off. I always find myself checking if someone turned the balance to the right because that is where the sound seems to come from. If you move the head toward the middle, between the 2 front seats, then it's better. I'm just used to the W124 which sounds better.

Get one of those CD lens cleaner discs and run it through your changer... I was having skips over barely rough road, and the cd cleaner helped alot. Now it only skips if i hit a massive jarring pothole (which is never) so it doesn't skip ever now...
