Hello,
I am currently looking to purchase a Mercedes-Benz S550. While looking for one to purchase I noticed a sticker on a pre-owned 2007. The MPG for this 2007 S550 was 16 and 26. Then while looking at a brand new 2009 model I noticed the gas mileage was 14 and 22.
Further proof of this is is this link, it is a comparison between an 07 and an 09 and if you scroll down a little bit you will see the difference in MPG:
2007 Mercedes-Benz S-Class vs. 2009 Mercedes-Benz S-Class
Now, as far as I know Mercedes did not change the car at all. They still use their new 5.5 liter engine, 7 speed transmission etc.
So what I am asking is why does this difference exist, was the MPG rating in 07 possibly a mistake or does the 07 actually get better gas mileage (and if so why)?
Thanks,
John
