Why is this site referring to the CLS550 as a C219? Am I incorrect that they are actually W219's?

It's unfortunate there aren't any really good quality sites for MB like there is for my Duramax and my BMW. When they aren't capable of calling a W219 a W219, one shouldn't count on any depth in the bowels of the site itself. Well, unless you are looking for someone to complain about the United States, you can find plenty of that here........

Mercedes Benz CLS 500 AMG appearance package

Im new to the Mercedes nomenclature .. I just recently purchased {my 1st Benz} a 2006 CLS500 {love it!} and im not sure if it is a W219, W215, W211 or what. It has an AMG Appearance package, vin#WDDDJ75X06A051567. Runs like a scared rabbit, shifts like warm willing woman, perfect paint and interior, just want to know about the classification of the model. This website, after I got into it, seems to be loaded with knowledgeable MB people...just want to extract some knowledge so I can feed my 500 with the right stuff. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!!

WXXX are usually used for 'all' chassis, or then only sedans. SXXX means wagon and CXXX coupe model, RXXX roadster.

So yes you can call your CLS model either W219 or C219, but after CLS model line was canceled after W/C218 model, coupe models were integrated inside 'main' model lines and they got C letter even they got different numbering from their 'mother' models (for example E class W212 sedan S212 wagon and C207 coupe)
