No not me. FYI, the name plaques are also available on the AMG Private Lounge website(under People of AMG). My Master Technician does not show up on the AMG list, he must have left AMG or been reassigned.

Hmmmm... I'll have to take a look.

Perhaps they are shot when they have completed their masterpieces!

HAHAHA.

Only joking. I'm sure they are well.

Thanks for replying.

I have notices a few of these AMG Master Technicians no longer there. The job at Affalterbach might be somewhat boring, assembling the same engine twice a day, every day.

I needed information about AMG cars of early and mid 90-ties and got information, that almost all old personal left. All real technical freaks, who worked there for years and was big fans of their jobs is slowly replaced by "standard" workers. AMG has changed a lot during the years — from real tuning shop to just usual factory. Few of workers in production today have worked with W202 / W210 AMG models, and there are none left from times, when AMG was independent tuners. That's why I'm not surprised about fact.

Hi all. I've tried uploading a Powerpoint file of some past (2005??) AMG engine builders but the site wouldn't allow it. However there's a link below but you'll need to 'Allow it' in order to view it:

www.srika.com/garage/AMGmechanics.ppt

Unfortunately we can't get access to the AMG lounge from Europe despite promises that it will come. :crybaby2: If someone who has access would be kind enough to spare a moment to check for me, I'd be very interested to know if the maker of my engine still works for AMG?

His name is:

Reiner Laukemann
(sometimes mispelt Rainer online)

Does anyone else have an engine built by him? I know that he built engines for the E63 AMG in '06/'07 from an online review I've seen? If you're reading this Reiner I'd like to buy you a few beers for one very sweet AMG V6 which I would imagine is quite a bit lighter than the latest lumps!

This whole thing is a very clever marketing tactic by MB and is now being copied by Aston-Martin. It is a cool thing to associate your engine, the heart of your car, with an actual person's name.

I think they only brought in the engineers plates in '02 or '03 (?). I'm not certain but AMG have probably always had the one man to one engine policy (?) and knowing how efficient the Germans are I wouldn't be surprised if you could find out who built your C36 with a bit of research - probably one of the original 'Old Masters'.

Dominik Baier built the engine for my 2006 E55 AMG - The Brute. Car was built in Sept '05.
Hey bud!

Wow, it's great to hear from someone who has the same engine builder!

"The Brute".. heehee, excellent. :D

Mr Baier appears to know his craft.

Mine, too, is quite the animal.
