I am curious to find out who has the lowest W124....

I propose that we have a contest. Measure the height of the bottom of the drivers side front door handle from the ground, and post up your result.

I will measure mine today after work, and post it up... :)

Perhaps measuring the lowest part of your aluminum oil pan would be appropriate

That's not as easy as the door handle.

30" on the right side of the road crown.

If I make a fist, that height of 4 fingers will just fit under my front crossmember (87 300E). Of course I have to be very much aware of box turtles and beer cans.

This could be a legendary thread on some forums, but not so much here. I believe I know the winner and his car has a rare set of 2 piece wheels.

Perhaps to win this contest, one might run with bags rather than springs.

For the record, I like lowered cars. I drive lowered cars...one even with cut springs (gasp!).

Does it count if you load it up with your entire family in the back seat, and leaking shock absorbers?....

bags are cheating though.

29.25" on the sedan, with 8" cut (linear) S124 springs. The rear needs more cut, so there's a pretty significant rake. The wagon with H&Rs still doesn't have an engine installed.

I think your coupe is at a disadvantage by using the door handles as a point of reference, since they're further back on the car, and thus if there's any rake at all, you'll measure higher.

Didn't think of that..

I went out and measured a stock 300TD at the handle and it was at 30.5".

Maybe the front fender lip (since they're pretty much the same across the models) would be a better alternative to the door handle.

Hows the top of the mirror work?

Doesn't matter to me.

a point on the door mirrors should be the same for every configuration...

What about the classic measurement, center of wheelcap to fender?

I can measure center of wheelcap to the fenderlip.

This would be more fair, as it would not take into account the height of aftermarket wheels/tires.

I propose two measurements...

Centercap to fender lip, and top of mirror to ground. You also need a picture of the car. :D

I know I cant fit a low profile jack under my car anymore. I have to support an arm, lift it a bit and then get a low profile jack in.
