Welcome to the minefield!

There's a few variables.
Rim width
Offset
Tyre profile
Load rating

Tyre width depends on the rim width, not the diameter, so you need to know the full specs i.e. 18 x 7.5, 8, etc of the rim that you are looking for.

Once you know the rim width and diameter, pick a profile (i.e. 45, 50, 55) to match the diameter to the original tyres. Bigger rims need a lower profile tyre so you don't end up with huge wheels.

Also make sure you check the offsets as if your wheels/tyres are wide and the rim is the wrong offset, they could rub the shocks or catch on the arches.

Make sure they are load rated too - the insurers won't care that you don't carry anything if the tyres aren't up to the spec of the van.

This calculator should help you pick the right size tyre

Before you waste money on tyres make sure your new wheels are up to spec..i.e load rating..some cheaper wheels are only suited to cars and could collapse under load.....

You'll generally get away with a 35mm offset on an 7.5-8" rim....if you go wider at the back you'll fowl on the arches, front's not a problem because of the "off-road" design...:)

All merc alloys (5x112) 15-20" will fit...just check the offset and dont go super wide, a lot of the older merc have staggered wheels which look awesome but are'nt practical.........

BTW...although some other wheels have a 5x112mm pcd the centre bores are smaller..i.e VW Seat, Audi.....that is unless you have a milling machine..:)
