I want to take the wheels off to inspect the brake pads but I need to torque them back (for safety), but I have no idea what the bolt size is.

Can someone tell me which size socket to buy? 2001 SL500 staggered AMG rims

Thanks.

As far as I know, all Mercedes use 17mm hex socket for lug bolts.

My 2000 SL600 Sport (with AMG rims) takes a 17mm socket. Tighten every other lug nut in a circular pattern a little at a time until they're all at 80 ft/lbs. Recheck the torque after 50 miles or so.

Might just as well buy a whole metric socket set, rachet, extension and a torque wrench if you don't have them. Very reasonable priced at Harbor Freight.
