I've read a lot in other performance car forums that you get better performance and a smoother, quieter engine by changing from regular mineral oil to synthetic oil at your first service, and every scheduled oil change thereafter.
I used to prescribe to this phylosophy when I had my Honda S2000 - but that engine was frequently maxing out at 9000 rpm, so synthetic could have been more beneficial for such a high revving engine.
I just wonder if anyone has any guidance on whether synthetic oil is a benefit (or even necessary) for the SLK, or will just be an extra drain on my checkbook.
