I recently purchased my first Mercedes about 8 months ago. I have had Chevrolets all my life up until now. What a difference, i love my c230!! Anyway, I think it is about time for some brake work. The local auto parts store recommends semi-metallic pads. I have read on here several people talking about ceramic pads. It is not a race car or used like one so I don’t want to waste money on something I don’t need or go backwards and buy junk or less than what is currently on the car either. I am not even sure which type pad comes on them from the factory. Could someone make recommendations for me and why they feel the way they do towards their choice? Also some suggestions on where to purchase them from or recommended websites would be useful also. I am getting ready to perform schedule B maintenance and would like to find a trusted retailer or website that I can get my pads, cabin filters etc from. Thank you in advance for any advice given. Have a great day.

The factory pads are organic pads. People often go for the ceramics because the brake dust is almost invisible, so they save much time keeping the wheels clean. They might be a little less responsive when cold but should not have any other negative impacts. Lots of people here (myself included) use Autohaus AZ for parts.

I also recommend ceramic pads. The brake dust is reduced by 99%. I am getting goods results with a brand called Friction Master by Morse. I am sure your more hardcore types would think they are no good since they are sold at Checker Auto Parts. Not in the retail stores but online at Partsamerica.com They were only $50. I think they work better than the OE pads. They are cheaper also.

Good luck.
