hi guys
New to the forum, my name is Pete and I'm from Chicago, and drive a 99 sl500 sport.

Been doing a bit of searching but I cant find a definate answer, which big AMG calipers fit the 129 without major modifications, except larger rims.... I know a lot of people out there are probably looking for the same thing.

EDIT; even though few said " nothing fits", thanks to patfarrell, he confirmed SLK55 rotors work fine....lets continue this .....

CLS55 -?
CL55-?
SL55 (219)-?
SLK (170)-YES -need to cut the dust shield

you know please share, so I can update this information, also why it doesn't work might be helpful to many out there. Thanks in advance to all that repond.

None. You already have the largest possible calipers available for the R129 that fit without mods. There have been a few that have installed larger calipers but that was with modifications. For better stopping power try going to ATF Racing Blue brake fluid and Akebono Ceramic pads.

so you have to modify oem brackets to make some of these fit, or make custom ones?
I saw slk55 and cls55 calipers on 129s...

Well I'd follow Pete's advice on the advanced search.

Had I said "yes the c55 calipers fit without any modification" would you have gone and bought some? That's a blind trust no one should have with me in real life, let alone as some joe on forums.

If I were you I'd search, search some more and then try to reconfirm your findings via a thread and another few searches on mbworld.

Just my opinion though.

no, absolutelly I work on all of my cars and you always try to expect the unexpected, but if someone says, "do not fit" that helps a lot

I did search/advanced search, very few posts, most with "pics" of the wheel and caliper installed, rather then the process and the mod to make them fit.....

I didn't find any off the shelf brackets or trust me I would have bought and installed some larger calipers. I know Bayhas installed some massive calipers and rotors on his but was uncomfortable about sharing or selling whatever he made due to possible failure of the parts.

I haven't seen him here in some time but if you look in those brake threads I'm sure you will come across some of his posts and then PM him. I think patfarrell has some larger than stock calipers on his also but not sure.

hmm... I was really hoping to improve both looks and performance with some amg calipers, I guess c55 brakes must do for now

guys I'm going to europe in the next few months, is anyone interested in getting some euro convex mirrors or some other stuff for that matter, will visit many car flea markets/dismantlers looking for cool amg/brabus stuff

if it doesnt require building a new caliper braket, it not a major mod, imo
