:confused:Delima here Have 3 cars gonna make into 2. 72 350slc needs paint and a few minor repairs. Next 75 450sl needs chain replaced ,have robbed for parts on occasion, major paint job very little rust. Last 80 280slc pretty much stripped but has a great motor and trans. All have green interior. I'm thinking about making the 450 into a 280and putting the a/c into my 77 280sl. any body wanna chime in?

Hi Jody. You know you'll be getting opinions that are all over the place. Here's mine. Assuming the two SL's are about equal in terms of work needed, (maybe even if they're not) I'd focus on the '72. First year of the SL, you don't see many 350SL's. At the risk of stepping on some toes, I'm not a big fan of the SLC. For me it's a parts car or for sale. Keep us posted on what you do. By the way, how is your foot?

^ Erm, the '72 is the SLC...

I can't get over three R107's in the same household with green interiors... How's that work?

the 72 is a 350slc, very little work needed, I'm leaning hard for it to be fixed. the 75 is 450sl chain guide snapped and we've stolen a few bits and pieces for other projects, also looks like someone painted it with house paint and a roller. My dilemma is mainly should i put the motor and trans from the 80 280slc into the 450 body? and make it a 365sl? (450 bod and 280 guts).

The SL's are worth alot more than the SLC's. The difference between a car needing a major paint job and a paint job is really not too much unless dents and rust are also involved. Therefore I would get the 450SL going.

The other thing you dident tell us is if either the 350SLC or the 280SL has a stick. In that case pick the one with the stick.

I didn't used to be an SLC fan, I used to be all about the SL, but now, I have a very strong feeling that they are going to be worth a lot more than the SL in the future, a lot less made, and I think less loved over their lifetime, as the SL was cherished more for being a rag-top, so I think the SLC have been, and will continue to disappear a bit quicker while they get canabilsed and destroyed. Leaving the ones that are left even rarer.

Still, One of each sounds about right to me. ;)

What he said. I didn't notice that the '72 was also an SLC.

Just fine, thanks. The pins, rods and screws in my left leg are forgotten until a storm hits. The only functional issue I've ever had is in using the foot clutch on my Indians. I've had to add a small heel extension on the rocker to get a smooth engagement.

Sounds like you've got some nice MB projects- One for each kid?

I still have only seen one other, in the past 3 years on the roads.

That was the plan but the 18 yr old opted for my 2000 dodge caravan (blew the motor) now has a 2000 olds alero. Daughter is getting a 91 mercury capri till she can learn to keep her attention on driving.
