Got a problem with the remote, again, I bought it last year because the first one only worked with IR, the new one from MB cost about $500 here...
So, today no RF either for locking/unlocking, the IR is working with the door handle and RF with the Push and Go button, I'm quite sure that the remote itself is OK, I'd like to know if someone had investigated similar issue before ?
I'd like to know where's the receiver stands and what is it's fuse ?
If it is a software problem, does Star get a way to re-sync the remote or clear some error code in the key CPU ? Or maybe simply by pressing some remote's buttons in some order is it possible to do that?
The Remote key receiver is combined with radio receiver, located at driver side C pillar. Antenna is the metal line on rear window, sometimes the connector would be broken.
Thanks, just noticed that the radio receiver has some kind of attenuation, you probably right.
Just find a picture of the antenna amplifier, so, just need to remove the latteral cover to get access to it, in your case, it was beyond repair or new soldering points did the job ?
Just replaced with another amplifier and still get the probelm (no radio reception nor keyfob rf detection)
Fuse F8 is OK, no idea to check with Star either, someone already did something with the test of the rf/radio amplifier-remote with Star ?
Thanks for any help, I used Star twice since last year, so not very comfortable with it...
No clue if you're still working on this problem but.... Check for 12V at the amplifier on the red/yellow wire. If 12V is at the amp, maybe try another amplifier (eBay)? If no 12V there (and the #8 fuse is fine), check to see if there's infinite resistance (ohms) or zero resistance in that red/yellow wire between the amplier and the fuse box. In my case there was infinite resistance in this wire - indicating a broken wire. I started taking the tape off the harness (start at the end closest to the fuse box). About a foot from fuse box the red/yellow wire actually had a junction where it split from one wire into two and this junction had corroded and broken apart!!! I soldered the wires back together, taped the harness back up and VOILA!!!!! AM radio reception and RF RCL (key fobs) function is all working again.
In fact, I checked the power line if I remember well but I had to drive the car to Benz... They told me that a wire was touching the ground of the car and that is was a kind of shortcut near the rear fender.
Btw, if you could post a picture showing where to check(your repair) if somebody encouters similar problem it would be nice.
Thanks
Attached are the pics.... You can see where the wire broke at the corroded crimp where the wire split from one into two wires. And a pic after the joint was soldered.
Thank you guys for collecting this amount of useful info.
I have the same issue, but d*mn I can't remove the C-pillar of my S211.
The rearmost piece of attachment is easy to do with, but the rest are getting on my nerves.
It sounds cracky..can you hint me?
Best regards,
Nedyalko
Changed the antenna amplifier with a working one-the issue remains.
Visited a Star-Diagnostics-electricity-automobile-superstar master. He checked the power supply cables after the fuses, everything seems OK, but the problem persists.
Any ideas?
Thank you!

I know this is an old thread, But I also have an intermittent RF KeyFob issue, I bought a code reader from "carly" for Benz, and cleared out the codes after noting what they were, and BAM the keyfob worked. Then it would stop again, the only way to get it to work was to clear DTS's again......so strange
