guys, where is a good place to mount a boost gauge inside a 300d? i had a crazy idea of mounting it in one of the center ac vent holes since my ac is inop. any ideas on where some of you have installed yours?

zedd, that looks awesome. what things had to be removed to bring the hose inside the cab for hook up to the guage? how did you secure the gauge in the hole? i am also curious, how much boost are you running? i was going to get a 15 in. gauge and i noticed yours are 30. i am going to tweek my turbo soon and i would like to know a safe number. thanks

I just had to run a 1/8" tube through the firewall. The grommet that the vacuum tubes pass through has unused ports that can be cut open. I removed the vent ball, bent the bracket to a good viewing angle and glued the gauge bracket to the surrounding ring. I cut a small slit in the boot over the vent for the tube and light wires.

My boost is 14psi right now. The 30psi gauge is for exhaust manifold pressure (Turbo drive pressure). 12psi is plenty for a stock engine. I use 14psi because I have additional fuel from the water injection and some other minor fuel tweaks.

i rigged a temporary gauge in mine today and the most i can get is 10 psi. will i notice anything by adding 2 psi by doing the wastegate mod? i mean, anything to justify the trouble of doing the mod? IE, will 2 psi make much of a power difference?

the other end

I'm assuming the sender for a turbo gauge gets T'd into the 8"-or-so rubber hose that goes from the "top part of the turbo" to the "bottom part of the turbo"? Is that right?

rob, noooooo. you tee in at your alda line that runs from the back of the intake to the top of the alda. i guess you could tee in at the location you are talking about, but i wouldnt. that is a line that tells the wastegate to send no more help to the turbo. IE, when the turbo is boosting all it needs to, pressure in the turbo is sent through that line and tells the wastegate to send remaining exhaust to the exhaust pipe and not over the compressor.
