I bought silicone inserts on-line at a quite reasonable price. A bit of hassle to disassemble the OEM blades and install the inserts, but it is do-able. They are still working very well after six months or so.

After using a local brand (TRICO) which was meant to be decent quality, after around a year in average Australian conditions, I find the blade on the passenger side (conveniently) has split!

I won't be using TRICO again.

I plan on getting genuine Benz ones (which I believe are made by Bosch). Is that what you do Dave? Locally, I believe they cost AUD$80-$100. Also, wouldn't Bosch aerotwin refills be acceptable for you Dave? I'm curious why you completely replace yours instead of using a quality/OEM refill.

This is a good thread. Learning that aftermarket wiper blades are available for the w220. I was in error thinking the what I believe is a 27 inch blade was not offered by aftermarket manufactures for the w220.

Don't bother buying any of the pre-facelift Bosch inserts that you see on FleaBay. Yes, they may be brand-new, but as a previous poster pointed out, the rubber has gotten old by now. One of the "new-in-packaging" sets that I bought started splitting as I was taking them out of the packaging.

I buy Bosch on line. Rock Auto has a good price and the wipers have been great.

Thanks for the comments. Are they selling old stock on eBay? Obviously the "rubber"deteriorates with time even in the packaging. You'd want to be using blades that have been manufactured recently...

You do know that you can restore streaking wipers to new by taking a piece of 400 grit wet sandpaper grit side up under wiper blade and run it back and forth a few times to resurface the tip of the blade

Update: I was able to source Bosch Aerotwin wipers from a local trade parts supplier - price was a very reasonable $AUD50 (that's about 25 pounds, or 33 US dollars). The Benz dealership list price, however, is around $AU120.

NB: The Bosch part number for Aerotwin wipers for right-hand drive W220's is: A947S.

So far I'm very happy with the performance of the wipers.

Is it true that Bosch design the wipers so that the rubber compound gets less UV exposure? Nice, if so, especially under Australian conditions :)
