I have a 1970 280S and have been very challenged trying to find a bloody heater hose. Goes from under the thermostat housing across to the rigid heater line in the right side of the engine bay. I have attached a pic of the area which also shows my temporary fix(note dual hose clamps) so I could get the car out and test drive after a belt and hose replacement project. All the suppliers that appear to have a similar hose to what I need, seem to be unable to send me some simple dimensions, so I am at a loss. Can anybody shed some light?

I was replacing hoses under my hood and just took it off to Autozone, popped the hood and asked the guys there to find something of similar bend, length and inner dialeter. I ended up buying Ford hoses that I had to cut down with an exacto knife, but everything works and looks natural. You might have to go to the Classic Center or a stealership to find the "right" (meaning expensive) parts.

As far as I'm concerned, a hose is a long, cylindrical thing often made of rubber or hard plastic, and may be used to pass fluids or vapors of some sort. Whether it says Mercedes or something else on it is immaterial.

I just replaced the hoses on my 250se. That hose was different sizes on both ends. Had to go the Mercedes dealer and order it. The hose that they gave me was much longer and tapered from one end to the other, you had to cut out the piece that you needed.

I just purchased one for my W108 last Friday from the Dealership and it is a different size on both ends. Cost me $25. What a cost rip off!. My last one lasted 23 years on this car but I'm in the process of doing radiator, A/C upgrade to R134a, hydraulic chain tensoner, and front crank nose gasket replacement so it's worth the peace of mind

I noticed in your original photo that the metal pipe that goes into this short hose had been replaced. It's the correct part. Here is a pic of the metal pipe.

For what it's worth and I'm new I know but often hoses are different sizes on each end. Personally I would buy the right length of hose of the smallest diameter end and use a heat gun to soften the other end enough to get it over the larger coupling. once that is done, throw on some cold water and your hose should be correctly sized. I've used this method often on Japanese cars with great success and great savings.

Hummmmm, this could explain why the hose I need doesn't seem to exist. Maybe finding the longer metal pipe is the answer....?

ha ha ha I hear that a lot. Funny that you mention the matchbook and paperclip. I was once asked to take some matches, a stick of gum and a bottle cap to make something so I broke off the match heads, put them in the cap with the aluminum wrapper from the gum (I chewed the gum) and lit the match heads to make aluminum oxide which is used in deodorants. Stupid bar tricks. LOL

MBZ part# A 111 831 00 94 for about $25.00 at the dealership. It has different dimensions on each end and must be cut to length. I think it's just what you're looking for

The other short-angled by-pass hose (from the pump to the head) is 127 203 0082 (from uroparts.com), the other number on the package is 117 33388 738 but I don't know what it references to.

Based on one of the response pics posted, I pulled the rigid heater return tube and had 6" welded to it so I can just use the short hose as in my original post pic. Threw some black paint on it, installed it and no more leak, finally!
