My car probably has a bad camshaft but the mechanic has not looked inside yet. I'm thinking that, if it is just the cam, I'll replace it and probably some lifters. If things are a mess, I'd like to go the used head route instead of new. I just want to drive it sometimes instead of it being immobile.

I called a few junk yards here in So. Cal but there doesn't seem to be very many old w-126s anymore in their yards. Can someone point me to a local source? I live in Santa Barbara and regularly commute to Pasadena, (2nd car).

How do you know there is a problem? What are the symptoms? What makes you point toward the camshaft?

I am not certain the cam is the problem, the mechanic only said he thought it was by listening to the engine. I am in no hurry to get the work done so when he has time he will make further tests/diagnosis. Meanwhile, I am searching for sources of parts.

Thanks, I appreciate your link.
