Anyone got a good place to buy online? Or is it easier to just go buy from dealer?

How much does it cost per liter? I looked on MBParts and it is over $15 a liter:eek:

Reading the tranny fluid change DIY, the new ATF will work and costs less...

If you have the 96 E300D with 4-spd transmission (like mine), just go to the normal auto parts store and get the ATF fluid - dexcronIII (did I spell it right?). MB dealer told me that 4-spd tranny uses regular fluid.

The wise

member above has got it correct if you have the old 4 speed it just takes dex3 or one of the new clones. The 722.6 is the one that takes the( pricey stuff) and that fluid should never ever go into the 722.3 and 722.4 old school transmissions.
