I dont like these clips at all. I actually did have one fail on my fuel filter a while ago. Just replace with good old jubilee clips or worm drive clips that have been tried and tested over decades. If they loosen off a bit with time you can give them an extra turn.

But I Understand The Worm Drive clips Are Not Good For Pressurized Lines, I Might Be Wrong ?

Am I ?

I agree with WayneG, those CLIC were used to save time/labor on production lines.
I Think I'm Going To Go With This Style Clamp

That should work. This is the same type I found in my Porsche (I haven't look into what is in my R129 yet).

I dont get it, why use some fancy clips when a good quality worm drive is the tried and tested way to go.

Thanks I Found That Seller , But If You Look At His Sight, There Is No Way To Buy From Him, You Have To Call Him Or Email Him, And Might Sell Them By The 100's

Did You See Up Top What I'm Going To Use ?

Thanks

All Mercedes used that clamp on the fuel lines for decades with out
any problems of cutting the hose.
Do you think that the new broom cleans better then the old?
Come on Joe. Hahah.

Well The Way I Look At It ,There Is No Harm In Putting On A Little Better Clamp, Thats Just The Way I Think Of It.

The Worm Type Clamps Might Be Just Fine, For 99% Of The Applacations, And I Agree With That 100% ,, But When It Comes To My Fuel Lines On This Fine Auto I'm Going To Go With A Tad Better Clamp.
Sorry If Most Don't Agree , But That Is Life I Guess

Thank You All For Your Input.

remember This It Don't Cost That Much Extra To Go First Class :p

Click-clip vs. worm-screw clamps

Joe :Smoker:
Very true.
In fact years ago my first European car needed some major work and I was so frustrated at dealing with these unique clamps (had never seen them before), that I changed all the clamps I could see with off the shelf worm-screw clamps you find at every local hdwr or auto parts store.

The coolant lines which have very thick rubber hoses weren't a problem, you could crank on the screw to get a good bite into the hose.

But fuel lines kept popping off when I least expected it.
Now, I'm not saying there is "no-way" to retrofit the funky click-clamp with your garden variety family tried and true worm-screw. Depending on the Pressure and flow rate, temperature near the fitting and most importantly, the shape of the metal FLARE on the filter, yea it might hold together.

But personally I'm going to air on side of caution and stick with the OEM clamps here.

All,

Seems to me things are getting a little too complicated.

Here is the source of the "improved clamps" as well as the ratcheting type which might even work better. Cheaper source and you can set the steel clamps with a set of diagonal cutters. You will, however, have to grind it off when you remove it.

I can also find the metric originals which actually do work if anyone is interested. (Maryland Metric) MARYLAND METRICS 'HOME PAGE' They are not just for production and have a very logical design when one is looking at easy removal as in the case of a fuel filter that gets changed routinely.

Find Hose Clamps At SmallParts.com

the screw type clamp is normally just not appropriate for the small diameters of the fuel filter and will in most cases be worse than not putting a clamp on at all because of the uneven shape that is created by the screw mount.

Regards,

George
