I have 20 inch rims on my 01 S500. Make sure you go to someone that knows how to balance the wheels perfectly (no jackleg).
I kinda wish I had gone with the 22 inch now, but maybe on my upgrade later I will.

20 inch and larger wheels will make the ride harsher. The one big thing about the 4-Matic is that the revolutions per mile must be the same, front and back. This eliminates many staggered wheel setups. You must also be concerned about offset, width, and other factors so as not to rub against your brakes or your fenders. Proper lug nuts are also important.
