I have a chance to get a very good buy on the original wheels from a 2001 S430. Looks like the bolt pattern and width is the same for both cars, offset for the TE is 38mm, 40mm for the S430. Am I letting my greed color my judgement (wouldn't be the first time) or can I do this without problems? Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm in a similar situation with my 88 TE. I just can't believe that 2mm can make a problematic difference.

Check on bolt size.

E-class went from 12mm to 14mm in 2003, Perhaps S-class earlier.

Makes a difference on the taper fit of bolt to wheel.
