Good evening All,

I was wondering if ALL wheels that came factory on a W212 will definitely fit on a W211?

I am planning on upgrading my wheels on my 2003 E320, but unfortunately recently purchased a set of AMG wheels from a 2001 S500 and I was hoping I could make them work. The wheel fit is too tight and I do not want to install spacers, so the hunt for wheels will begin again.

I would like to stick with OEM wheels, preferably AMG, but need to know if anything from a W212 will fit the W211.

Also wondering if any wheel from a W211 E55 or E63 AMG will fit with now problems on my E320, which is completely stock.

Thanks in advance.

Sad part is that there is no publication that will answer your question, so you have to review that on single sample basis.
I believe wheels from all W211 will fit your car, but on some occasions AMG models do have rolled fenders.
Good part is that lot of AMG wheels from older years will fit the car with only custom bolts.
I was fortunate enough to find older 18" Lorinser monoblocks and finding 2 sellers I bought 6 of them so even if I damage one, I still have good set.
Do your homework how to read the offsets and how to use wheel converters available on the net.
Have fun shopping.

Thanks very much.

I have read a lot and did a lot of homework and this is a big job for sure.

Coming from the BMW WORLD, it is a lot easier to match wheels there.

I do not want to use spacers at all and cannot figure out how to match the wheels. :(

It is not that difficult once you memorize couple of principals.
From the top of my head, W210, W211 and several years of SLK, CLK do have wheels where 7 -7.5" rim has about 40 mm offset.
Wider rim you get, lower offset you need.
1" = 25 mm, but difference in rim width spread on both sides, so 1" wider rim should come with offset about 12 mm lower.
I hear that those cars accept 10" rims and even somebody put 11" on the rear, so you do have pretty hefty tolerances.
Just when you get wide rim from S class with 45 mm offset, you are screw.

Thank you again.

Ok, so I want to get a staggered set up, 18" inch diameter.

Front should be 8 x18 or 8.5 X 18.
Rear should be 9.5 × 18.

What off set do I need to look out for?

The S Class rims I got are 8.5x18 front, off set 44, 9.5x18 rear with an off set of 46 and you are correct, I am screwed as the front wheel is way too close to the control arm/Strut is way too close to the wheel and I was convinced I could fit these rims as is, no such luck. :(

Thanks for the help.

By now you should know what are original sizes on your car. So if you have 7.5 rim and new wheel is 8.5, the offset should be 10-15 mm smaller.
I have 9" on my Lorinsers so can check the offset later to give you some actual experience.
Rear is more tolerant to different offsets, but it is not just the fitment, but also looks.
Even when wheel with bigger offset might fit, it will go more under the chassis and look stupid.
Than where I live I see I think Puerto Ricans driving Nissans with negative offsets.
About 1/2 of the wheel sticks out the fender.
Not to my taste, but they seem to love it.

Thanks very much for your reply.

Would love to see some detailed pics of your car and your set up/wheels.

I agree, not my taste as well to have wheels stick out from the fenders. I have seen this in San Juan, as I work for the company who built the Tren Urbano Rail cars for San Juan.

I am currently running the original wheels, 16x7.5 and my understanding is that the offset on a W211 shouId be about 35-37, this is what I read on the Internet.

So if I run a 9.5 wheel width in the rear, my offset should be around 15, 1" inch less which is 25.4 mm?

Thanks.

Finally I had a chance to check my wheels.
I have factory 17" wheel that is 8" wide with offset 36
Than my 9" wide Lorinser have offset 37.
Evidently there is enough clearances on the inner side for additional 12 mm, while lot of clearance to fender.
