Okay, now the fun can begin.

So is it a T-Rex toothbrush, a mobile car wash, or should I convert it to a flail mower and weed sprayer?

I'm hoping to adapt the snow blower to this one, since it certainly goes slowly enough, and am completely open to suggestions. But the first thing I need to do is to figure out all the levers.
Most everything seems to work, although once home with it, the engine shut-off doesn't work anymore, and the cylinders on the boom and brush doesn't want to retract.
Oh well, those issues can't be too hard to fix.

It also came with a bunch of literature that'll be interesting to read through. I have a lot to learn about these civilian models.

Good to see it moved to a more correct home. No shade on the guy who wanted to make it a camper but its just too weird to die that death.

Fury Road had one with some massive timber saw blades, not a bad place to start.

Surely you meant "less incorrect".

Well, I certainly won't kill it by going too fast, no matter what I end up doing to/with it.
Just found a picture of it doing its thing in the Carlin Tunnels (NV) last year, an annual cleaning the newspaper said.

Oh, and the seller is quite appreciative that I saved him from it. He saw his errors - before spending some $4-5K to have it transported cross country.

If I had missed it, I wouldn't be the somewhat proud owner of a tunnel washer.
Still not entirely sure if that is a good thing or not, but it's definitely an intriguing machine.

Now I just need you guys to steer me in the right direction about what to do with it.

Still here and glad it went to a good home. If transportation wasn't such an issue it would have been here with me and under utilized but well cared for.

I haven't seen a cleaner unit that wasn't restored. It doesn't look remotely like it's over 40 years old. Some of you missed out on a great deal.

I appreciate BenzWorld for connecting me and the new owner.

Thanks

Yeah, if you hadn't posted I would've never known about that machine. And it's a fluke that I checked your thread in the first place.
In the end it all worked out well I think, and I really appreciate that you were willing to work with me, and most helpful during the process.

I say adapt the bristle head so you can provide mobile scritches to the dogs in other trucks.

Based on your herd id say its in good hands.

Buy some cattle? Thanks, but no thanks. I just put up a new stronger fence to keep the neighbor's cows out.
And my first suggestion to my girlfriend was to use it to speed up the horse washing. Would you believe that she declined?

Dunno where there are any solar panel arrays around here, unfortunately.

My current thinking is to adapt the snow blower to it, and maybe make a wrecker boom of sorts for the rear.
With its low gearing it'd be easier to run the 'blower than it is with a SEE, and solo vehicle recoveries would be much easier.

Got the rearmost cylinder to work yesterday, so now it looks more like it should, with the brush vertical. And it'll be easier to remove and store the rear stuff.

Here is a front flail mower application that might fit your tunnel vision:

The first two pictures have been posted before.

And also below is another front three-point application that sort of relates to your collection of SEEs:

Thanks, Resource!

I'd need a much smaller version of your mower, I'd think. Not only to keep the weight down to keep from tipping sideways, but also so it's light enough for the boom to handle.
Since I'd use it for cutting along irrigation ditches, the mower would need to be 5-10 feet off to the side.

Looks like I should go somewhere where I can study all the different mounts and options available. Again, I'm used to the FLU setups but this is all Greek to me so far.

I hear ya, literally the same thing happened here Friday, random cows wondering into my yard, turns out fences are just a suggestion to a cow...

There's a book for MBU/SBU's that specs all (well...a lot) of the implements that can be run, on the first page it shows the implement, then the second page it lists the series of Unimog that can run it, and all the options that need to be present to work, such as high flow hydro return, frame brackets, that kind of thing.

I wonder if similar literature exists for the MB4/94? or even the 406 in general, I'm betting it does. I haven't got around to scanning this one yet but here's examples of the info
Apologies for formatting and duplicates, I'm on my mobile and it's not cooperating...

First image looks like exactly what you need no?

Hey, that last one looks almost exactly like what I've got. Thanks!

I still haven't unpacked the box with binders and brochures that came with it. Might have some of those myself.
At the moment my main question is if it should be possible to engage the (rear) PTO with the engine running. While the fuel shut-off cured itself and works now, it'd still be nice to leave the engine running.

When I get a chance later this week, it'll get some pressure washing so I can pinpoint a couple of leaks (primarily the rear pumps driving the boom, brush, and such), followed by a basic fluid check.
Then fluid changes, as needed, or even not needed. A look at the maintenance records will help there, but I like to start with fresh fluids and grease no matter what.

If there is anything you guys would like photos of on this thing, please let me know.

I believe I have a Case version of that book... let me see if I can find it...

I could have used that sweeper today, we (the FD) have an annual training consisting of drafting from a nearby pond and washing the sand off the VFW parking lot. I'd be curious to see pictures of the passenger side with the door open!

Mike, I'll do my best to remember to take a photo of the passenger side(ways) compartment.

And related to your training, last night I thought of another potential use for this machine.
Almost every last bit of snow in the hills is gone, and it hasn't really rained in 3.5 months, so the river is really low. So we've been asked to conserve water, but may still run out.

Okay, if I remove the brush and hang the hydraulically driven pump that came with the HME at the end of the boom, it should be possible to fill the two tanks already on the machine, and more, from whatever water source I can find.
This may have been a very timely purchase.
