The 350 with 7g gearbox also has the shifter buttons on the back.

The AMG will come with the standard leather steering wheel with menu buttons, volume buttons, phone pickup buttons, and so on.

The 350 can be ordered with heated steering wheel, or even with wooden trim and so on. But all at an extra.

Just getting the 7g on the 350 does got get you the shifter buttons...[;)]
It might be country specific then. If you get 7g tranny in Switzerland, you also automatically get the shifter buttons on the back of the steering wheel.

The buttons (menu buttons, volume, etc) on the steering wheel are also an option if you don't get the AMG according to the price guide.

Over here, you always have like a million options for every car... not just 3 or 4 like in some other countries. What a bummer it is to go choosing through them all :\

My main concern it the actual material the wheel is made of as i really like the TT kind of a sticky leather really nice to hold, I hope the merc is the same if not better not nobbely leather look cos that would be the final straw.

I am afraid that you do not automatically get the shifter buttons with the 7 speed auto; I actually expected it at one point, then realized it was not so[:(!] You can still shift manually fine from the stick however...[)]

I just referenced the PDF E-Brochure and the shifter buttons are part of the AMG Sport Package when you get the 7 speed auto...[;)]

I find my steering wheel to be very nice to the feel, comfortable and smooth leather. There are a couple of "thumb bumps" up at the 10 & 2 positions...I like it...[:D][:D][:D]

Mine is a US model; don't know if the UK are the same...[?]

Are the Radio/CD/NAV buttons located on the steering wheel if you ordered the entertainment package with NAV?

It has been so long since I ordered the car but I thought the one I test drove (which was not an AMG) had buttons on the steering wheel

I do not have the entertainment package or NAV, but I think the button arrangement on the steering wheel is consistent through all options; e.g. my wheel has the phone buttons, although I don't have that.

The wheel has two sets of menu buttons on the left to navigate through menus and a set of up & down buttons on the right with a set of phone buttons - a total of eight on the wheel (4 on each side)...[8D]

The previous posts about shift buttons relate to them on the back side of the wheel one left an one right...[;)]

Here is a picture of the standard inside with the wheel visible. This is a 7 auto and does not have the shifter buttons (mine is similar)...the radio is the standard one... [:)]
Thanks, I can't believe I ordered a car and don't even know what is on it! Guess I will be surprised.... I did want some buttons on the steering wheel to operate my Ipod when the Integration Kit is available. [^]

Hang in there...time to leave the office for today; the sky just stopped the rain, so the the decision is leaning toward top down...[:D][:D][:D]

BTW...I think the apple ipod kit requires COMAND...if you don't get it, you might have to explore other options...[;)]

No, I ordered the Entertainment Package with NAV which includes COMAND (I hope, at least that is what I was told).

It is getting ready to rain here and we are just hoping there are no more mud or rock slides[V]

Here is my 350 w/AMG that has shifter buttons. The steering wheels on all US 350 are the same except for shifter buttons which only come on 350 AMG's (and 55's) with 7G.

On my AMG, the steering wheel has little - and + 'buttons' (buttons as in the kind you'd have on shorts or jackets, not buttons you'd press) on the face side, just to the left and right side of the menu/volume etc buttons of the steering wheel.

Dunno if those come in all the markets, but mine has them... I guess they are there to tell people that the down shift button is on the side market with a minus sign and vice versa.

Oh, another thing. The leather of the AMG wheel is not bad. It's a bit soft, i.e. if you poke at it with your finger, you can feel it sink in a few millimeters. It's also a bit dryish, not slippery, but not sticky either. Maybe over time it will become a bit sticky due to all the oil in our hands accumulating over it [;)]
