I had no idea my W212 even had this feature. Interesting.

I believe it is telling you that you have three unlatched seat belts in the rear. It is your job to compare that to the actual number of occupants.

That sounds perfectly reasonable. The surprising thing is that it wasn't in the user manual PDF and nobody else seems to have seen it.

First time I saw it, on the day I got the car, I had 4 winter wheels/tyres on those back seats and thought "ohhhh, it's sensing the weight of those wheels and thinking they're unbelted people". But when it continued to be displayed without the weight on the seats (although only for a short time), then I reconsidered. Next time I go out I'm going to connect some of the seatbelts and see if I lose one or two of those pep boys.
