Has anyone got any advise on good subs to give a serious resonate bass to my ICE.? I was thinking of 2 subs on the rear shelf, but dont know what size or make would be best sound and value for money, Infinitie Subs perhaps?

Currently, mine is fitted with two 10" subs on the rear shelf. It's 200W max each. Honestly, I'm not much of an audio buff, but since it's already there when I bought the car, I might as well enjoy it. I plan to upgrade my system. Last week I just bought myself a Soundstream X-Series 4-channel Amp and a Clarion EQ. I'm getting all other components in stages and intend to fit it myself, with the help of some friends. Maybe I'll PM you to exchange notes, if you wouldn't mind. Thanks.

So you have two 10" subs in the back, I take it these are replacement ones that were in the car when you got it and not the original. Is the sound really good? and does the bottom magnet of the speaker take up mutch room in the boot when the hang down?
I have an amp that I want to fit in but i have not decided the best place? any ideas?

I'd have to say JL Audio W7 Series woofers are best, but damn expensive. If you're on a budget go for the W0 series.

Seriously, our car eats bass for lunch, with the gas tank and fire wall between the trunk and the passenger compartment, it takes a LOT of sound to really get the bass reproduction that makes you bump. I have two Infinty Kappa perfect 5.1 12's in mine and although its very powerful, i know that in any other car id be breaking glass!!
Always remember, you get what you pay for. Its a benz so i say spend the extra money. good luck

Funny you should say that, my friends 3 series broke its numberplate when i fitted 2 10" bandpass boxes into it,.... was so funny watching him get pulled over by the cops[

So are the infinity Kappas good then? I was actually looking to mount them in the rear shelf in replacement to the woofers that are there as standard, rather then in a box. I may need to cot the holes a little bigger.
Yes, you are right. The systems I have in my car is non-standard. The only reputable brand of product I still have now are the head unit and CD changer which is Alpine. The subs are also an extra components fitted, in addition to the 6.5� rear shelf speakers, meaning that the rear shelf now have 4 speakers. There are also two front door speakers, Infinity Kappa. However the sound is not what I expected out of a 12-speakers system. What I suspect is that the previous owner has removed the original speakers and replaced it with the cheaper ones before selling off the car. Right now, I’m slowly acquiring all the necessary items one at a time, as my wallet permits. I intend to DIY the wirings, maybe during Christmas since it’ll be a long weekend and I’m not celebrating it.
BTW, there’s a very good friend of mine who’s a Scotsman and got married to a local here. He’s been here for the last 14years. I believe he said that he was from Blairgowrie, somewhere near Perth, Scotland. Please inform me when you are coming(returning) to Malaysia. I'll take you to the "hawkers" and we can enjoy the food here. Cheers.

Now, I am a bass head and I replaced 2 kicker 10" with this one and it is by far louder and hits harder. It's not often that you can see a benz steering wheel vibrate. I swear that this little box is better than the JL. To try and circumvent the gas tank problem, remove the rear shelf speakers, this creates a port for the sound to enter cabin. If anyone has questions, drop me a line. And to further stress, this speaker is worth its weight in gold. I'll put my benz against any non-professional sound system.

I was thinking of installing maybe 2 subs on the rear shelf, but for heavy serious bass, would it be best to get a box and just stick it in.?
