Hello, have a 2001 ML430. Looking to install an amp that's about 17 inches long and 11 inches wide (Punch P4004), but can't make up my mind where to put it. I'm going to run my own wires to the speakers in the doors to skip all the Bose amp/sub headaches I've read about - anyone have any tips for running wires under the floor panels? I briefly peeked tonight and saw how the plastic-but-looks-like-metal Mercedes floor panel pops right up, and there are a few screws holding the panel underneath.

Thanks!

How about under your front passenger seat? I never used the lock box, so I just took the box out and put an amp and navigation brain under there. The pictures below are before the removal of the lock box and when it was still sticking out a bit into the rear passenger footwell. I actually moved the amp and nav brain further beneath the seat. Now no one in the back seat can kick or see it unless you move up the front passenger seat. However, it was a pain in the bum to run the wires. I suggest connecting all the wires to the amp with some slack, then place the amp under the seat and then just pull on all the wires to remove the slack. It's a pain in the bum, but it gives a nice clean look, well at least when you have your front passenger seat moved forward.

Thanks for the wiring tip en-em, and nice clean looks from the other pics guys, I'm going to go with ttaleric's location, looks clean and easy to get to, since I like to tweak and retweak my audio curves pretty often for no good reason. Was going to do it tonight, but plans got changed and will finish up later in the week. Taking a little trip this weekend, so want to have it set up for that.

Thanks!

Another question: where did you guys end up grounding your amps? I know I can do the work to find a good spot, but want to know what's already been done that works well - that's what forums are all about :)

Thanks,

I grounded it using the bolt that holds down the seats, simple

I ended up going with where Black Hawk has his, and put another behind the right rear (not 3rd row), angled the same way. I have 2 P4004's, one for mids one for sub, and I'm using the stock Bose amp for my 4 tweeters, two in sail panels and 2 in the back plastic moldings just instead the tail gate, up high. Patiently spraypainted Infinity 1011t's flush mounted (left the tweeter grills black) don't look horrible. If only I wasn't apparently colorblind when picking matching gray paint...

Thanks,
