My SL is currently red in color and I am planning to repain it soon. I personally think red is not the right color for the SL. The right color should be either BLACK or SILVER.

Right now I cant decide which color to go. Our friends Silver Arrow and Lnguyenh says silvers the best color, but i want more comments from others.

What I want to know is : If you had a privilege to get your SL repainted for FREE, what color would you choose?

If your SL is currently black, would you repaint it black again?

If your SL is silver, would you repaint it silver again?

Or would you switch color from black to silver or from silver to black?

Please POLL and also give feedback/comments. Thank you.

Personally I don't like silver cars (wouldn't accept one for free) I like mercs in dark colours for some reason, and I was lucky that when my brother chose his 129 (now mine) he felt the same way.

Take a look at my gallery to get an idea of a black 129. But then again Silverarrow's 129 is one of the finest looking 129's I've seen and its silver.

Thanks Storm.

I prefer Silver. My SL was burgandy in color, and I had the choice to paint it any color I want. I chose silver.

yeah I remember you once had a picture up (taken from high up from behind).

Still you put in the hours (and money) and now your ride is PHAT!!![8)]
That's right. [;)]
Here it is again. I regret not taking more BEFORE pics.

Every now and then, I'd wish to have a yellow (with black interior) R129 [:)]. If I'd keep my cars that long and repaint them, I would [:p]

Yeah, go with brillian silver. Though I love my black car, the silver brings out all the curves, especially with the AMG aprons/skirts.

My smoke silver hide dirts very well though.

There is a guy I know who painted his SL yellow. It looked very exotic. I liked it. Now he repainted it white.

I agree with you concerning the silver color showing the AMG kit curves.

I think the wheels make a difference to how a color looks. For example, I think Aziz's silver is nicely set off with his Monoblock-style wheels. It wouldn't look nearly as snappy with thin 5 spokes like mine.

Similarly, my black wouldn't look nearly as good with the large area of silver that the Monoblocks have... makes the SL look unbalanced.

Ok. Im a newbie to SL's, but a veteran to classic muscle cars and customs in general.
Black cars are cool, the day it is washed. The next day it makes you sick how the luster is gone. LOL
Black also tends to HIDE a cars lines and curves. So a car without a lot of curves and lines should not be black if you want it to stand out so everyone knows what it is!
Silver is the hottest color for this car hands down. Not only that, it hides dirt easily!! LOL
I searched for 2 years for the right SL. I would only accept a Silver one. Passed up and would even look at many different colors that were great deals. Didnt want the hassle of painting.

Oh yeah, I just purchased my first SL 3 weeks ago.
1998 SL500 sport SILVER with panoramic roof and xenons. 50K miles. $25,600.
I have plans for Lambo doors.

That car's whack [:D]. Though I support Silver, clean black R129 is SICK
Inguyenh is that your ride? DAMN that thing look sweet. I always thought your car was standard.[:I]
It was but I mod'ed it [:)]. It was the first steps, now it sits on chrome (same wheel type), clear blinkers, OEM xenon, high-beam xenon, dual exhausts (both-sides), lower Eibach springs, red caliber .... and lots of money spent [:p]

How good the car looks also depends on how to take picture i.e the pixels, the day, time, place. I found it if I took it under the tree, it would look much better.

Look at the next two pictures, the first one was from the Benz meeting we had in NJ last Falls (with clear blinkers, chrome wheels, brakes, and springs. The second picture was from Christmas with xenon upgrade. Both of them was not look as nice because there were no trees around [:D][:D][:D]

And here goes another pic ... [:p]

Can you believe this is a ... man! There was a Tiffany show in Thailan last year with about 20 "girls" like this ... Boy, for a minute there, I thought I'd make big mistake [:D][:p][:)]
