What's normal oil usage ?

I have a 90 190e 2.6 with 118k miles on the clock. I've had to add 2 quarts since oil change 1000 miles ago. Should I be using some of that special oil for older cars ?

I'm using/burning/losing about 1 quart every 1200 miles. I drive a 91 2.6 with 130K on it now. My speed tends to be high (average about 75 mph for 130 miles a day!) So I'm not too surprised and I've read and been told thats its pretty typical to have some oil loss between minor leaks and valves slowly going.
