I have a 1991 300 SE with original Radio

Anyone know about the radio codes? i called MB and they said i have to bring the car in they do not give codes out over the phone. My car isn't on the road and i want to see if the stock radio even works. Is there a generic code or is every 126 different? Any other way to get my code?

Someone fed you some BS, I was able to get my code from the dealer over the phone, Long Mercedes in Chattanooga Tn, you will need the VIN of the car in question and the serial number from the radio in order to get the correct code. you may also want to try and call another dealership if possible.

My dealership will not provide me with the code over the phone. All you have to do is take in a document with your name and the VIN on it. Insurance papers, title etc will work.

Well I guess I just got lucky the day I called to get the code for my radio or I dealt with someone who was in a very good mood that day or just did not care.

If they gave you the code over the phone, one of two things happened. They either F'ed up, or they know you well enough. My parts Dept. guys know me so when I call them with a serial number they don't question me. But anyone else calling in, no, they will not give it out like that and you will need to provide documentation that you own the car.
