just wanted to find out what size / type / mfr etc tires you are using....and your opinion on whats the best tire you've used so far....and what factors you feel are important when choosing a tire.

just please give feedback on your w126's....i ask this because i feel tires can react / act / handle differently when on different (types of) vehicles...

i've currently got on Goodyear tires. i'm forgetting the model number but i'll list it here tomorrow. photo attached. The size is 215-65/15.

these are good tires...soft comfortable ride...good cornering and pretty low road noise. but it doesn't like rippled road surfaces. good wetholding too.

i essentially am not an aggressive driver...hence i look for softness...deep tread...good cornering and all-season capability (i don't have snow issues).

thanks.

I use Bridgestone RE_950 on the back and some other Bridgestone tires similar with the RE950 since they're discontinued.

I read on the mercedesshop forum or maybe it was somewhere else, that Michelins are the best on our cars. I'm looking to get back into a set of them.

I just installed a full set of Goodyear ResponsEDGE's, they are great in the dry and wet on my 560SEC Euro.

I recently put a set of Generals (Altimax HP's) on, I like 'em so far.
I have a diesel, so no "spirited" driving.

EDIT: Directional, $70 each. Try that with a Michelin.

Yokohama TRZ's on the CD.

225/55/16 Dunlop DZ101 Direzzas on the SEC for street use, they've exceeded my expectations so far.
255/40/17 Toyo R888's for track. LOVE THEM.

I used to have Goodyear on my 300SDL, recently I bought a set of Falken ZE-912 (made by sumitomo), $50/pc, 94H, 65kmi warranty, I don't see/feel anything inferior so far.

Continental Contacs...They have about 200kms on them. We'll see how they fare.

When I replaced my tires at the purchase of my car, I was offered Dunlops, Continetentals or Michelins, and each priced respectively. Apparently Michelins are fantastic on these cars, according to the various shops I've spoken with.

235/55ZR16, BFGoodrich G-Force Sport - ~$117 each, $150 a pop installed. They are too big for H&R springs and the fronts rub at the 2-o'clock position (looking at the passenger's side) in the wheelwell when the weight is transferred wrong at speed on severe lumps in road. I should've stuck with 50 series. That's a half-inch difference, btw.

They are great, with a nice, progressive feel when they break loose. Also very good in the wet. A little noisy, though - a simplified exhaust should fix that.

I have 225/60-15 Kumho KR21's in my SD, mounted on later 15 hole wheels. I have about 15k on them now and are pretty happy with them... good wet and dry traction, quiet, etc. $70 at tire rack, including 2 year road hazard warranty.

Michelin's. I have been using the earlier MXV series on the 126 with no problems. They perform well and last long. Absolutely no problems.

Hi,

I'm planning to run 17" monoblocks and i'm thinking of lowering the car w H&Rs as well. Would the 235/45 be too large and start to rub when lowered?
I have a set of 245/45/17's on my 380SEC with the D93 Lorinser wheels, no rubbing for me, the car is also lowered.
