Hi All -

Took car to dealer and they either coudn't "hear" or couldn't "figure out" what noise was...

2012 w204 c300 4matic... squeeky noise heard on deceleration when letting off throttle. If I press the throttle ever so lightly I can reproduce it and get it to become louder or softer. Press the throttle a little more and it disappears all together.

Just changed all idler pulleys, tensioner and belt... that's not it.

What gives?

Any help greatly appreciated - its driving me insane.

Mike

Fluttering...almost a chirping sound?

Under the hood, it seems to a sound from a belt/pulley.

EDIT: You mentioned it comes and goes with throttle intervention, so it has to be related to the belts/pulleys.

Did the indies not use a sound stethoscope?

Stealership did the work.... All pulleys and belt replaced... Who knows... Curious what else can make that chirping like a bearing...

Pinpointing an annoying squeak or chirp, is typically a 2 man job, from my experience. You need someone to move, jiggle or bounce up and down to re-create the sound issue(s).

In you case, you may need to pull belts off, one at a time, and test.

I know the feeling. Still need to monitor a squeak in the coil-over install I did recently. Quite embarrassing driving around town on a nice day, with a bird chirping away.
