How in the hell did you find that? Are you a in the closet Caddy guy? We'll now that I know what the hell that thing is I'm ripping it outta there and jumping over to the caddy forums to see if anyone wants it.
What’s random is why this was installed in a Mercedes - it uses a proprietary PC board connection as seen in the eBay ad like a old PC memory card , not just a power wire . So someone spent quite a bit of effort taking the socket out of a Cadillac to mount in a Mercedes
this item was easy to ID if you were an owner of a 1980s Cadillac with the remote, probably impossible if you never had the car
I can only guess the original owner had it in a early 80s Cadillac ,and liked the feature so much that when they traded the Cadillac in for the Mercedes , they demanded it be transferred over to their new car . It had three settings so you could operate a gate at a workplace, an entry gate of a private residence , and a garage door , combining three remotes into one. If you have any service records with the original owners name maybe you could contact them to ask about the story of the Cadillac remote put into their Mercedes
