Bosch 7422 (double platinum) is as close as you can get to the OEM plug and are the most affordable, at least in the states. NGK is the 2647, at least here a couple bucks more per plug.

Avoid the multi-tip ones, they seem to have a chance of disrupting the sequential-fire scheme MB created.

Some advocate for the NGK 7090, but that is only single-platinum and in the view of many here should be avoided so long as you can find the double-platinum ones.

Daggone, I meant what was it? I did know whatever it was it was no longer manufactured. But ohlord said several times it was NGK and I think others have said Bosch.

To my knowledge MB used Bosch plugs, although they were branded with MB's logo.

The OE Bosch was the F8DPP33, which was a double-platinum non-resistor type. Those are no longer made and we have to now get the resistor plug.

Neither one. Multi-tip plugs have been known to create problems in the modern twin-plug engines.

Do they not have the 7422? Try another store if not.

Do buying good spark plugs affect the power output of the car?

I've heard it does. What would be the best spark plugs for performance on an old merc, say a W124? :)

I know this is a bit of a thread steal and all, but I still find spark plugs quite confusing. I also always had the impression NGK sparkies were no good for a benz. Whats the best spark plug brand?

I put in the Bosch platinum+4 at around 85,000 miles. I now have 174,000 and it still runs smooth and strong. I also get great gas mileage.

W124 - a few different engines but this is recommendation for a couple of them (103, 104). Jayare's choice

If Jayare recommends NGK's then they are good.
I have the Denso's in the 89 103, they were a little easier to find.

It is easy to get to BenzWorld.org W124 forum as well: here

But I think the non-resistor plugs are used because the resistor is in the wires. And that brings me to the question here: Why do we go to resistor plug on the W210 now if they came with non-resistors originally?

Not sure that will help our OP in Belarus.
Whoops! I've just read the fine print on rebate form at pepboys.com; offer is good only for US and Puerto Rico residents. Perhaps the OP should relocate.

My 2002 E320 had Bosch Platinum F80 Performance plugs. It also says R1 191 on the ceramic part. I replaced them wiht NGK 7090. All is well.

Just an FYI - I recently removed the original spark plugs from my SLK320, same V6 engine as the E320. It had NGK plugs with the Mercedes star on them, PFR5R-11.

Interesting, my 2001 SLK320 had Bosch plugs in - same as the 2002 E320. So MB do sometimes change suppliers.
