: so, when did mb do away with their oil dip sticks and switch to electronic warning only, and more importantly, WHY<p><br>The only MB in America that does not have an engine oil dipstick is the new 2001 "c" class(W203) In 1997 the electronic automatic transmission was introduced in all the models and does not have a dipstick also. It is probably a marketing strategy to get owners into the dealership because the independent shops are screwing up these cars like mad.<br>
