Installed a replacement PSE that I got from a salvaged SLK - it works great. Problem is, every time I turn on the car, the alarm horn goes off exactly one time - annoying because it happens every single time. :(

Stealership tells me the fix is called "versioning" (i.e. this PSE is not for a '98 SLK which is what the beep tells you) - they say it takes 30 min and $80 to fix - so I thought I'd ask here if someone knows another way to get it done?

TIA!!! :D:thumbsup:

Some components need to be Versioned (coded) to the car model. I didnt think PSE's did but having seen a few different ones around its prob true.
The alarm can be set to diff functionalities..and that is in the PSE module.
You need A starsoft etc programme if thats the case. (Dealer, MB Indy etc)

Prob take about 10 minutes.
I dont think Carsoft can code the PSE.

Thanks Bazzle - that's what I suspected, but nice to know at least I'm not getting (too) ripped off! I'll hit up an MB indy shop...
