i lifted the bonnet (hood) on my 00 S600 today to top up teh washer fluid, I noticed this part making a "chattering sound" like a relay switching on and off with every engine revolution. then it would stop for a few moments, then start again.

the car is running fine. what is this part and what does it do? is it supposed to make a noise?

having trouble with inserting the pic so try this link IMG-20101221-00069 | Flickr - Photo Sharing!
