The cover, that's circled in yellow, apparently came lose. I found it resting on the splash pan. Anyway, one of the clips got broken off. I don't know the name of it. Where can I get a new one? It's for a 2000 c230 kompressor.

It's called the Suppressor Housing there is a split in engine numbers for the Kompressors PM me your vin and i'll run it to get you the part # or you can have the local dealership order it for you.

I have the old part. It looks like the part number is a111 158 01 85
But I can't seem to find it online anywhere and the dealer is going to rip me off. A couple of the brackets are broken on it, but otherwise it's fine. If I can't find a replacement, maybe I'll try to fix this one somehow.

I'd try the dealer, doesn't hurt to ask and Mercedes can surprise you sometimes on costs (in a good way for a change). Failing that just ask someone parting out a car in the "for sale" section or someone offering lots of W202 used parts on eBay if they have one or maybe an import salvage yard local to you will have one. This is pretty standard on any M111 engine - you wouldn't have to restrict your search to W202s if looking for a S/H cover.

check some online dealer parts sites. i think i got mine for about25 bucks shipped. the dealer or someone parting out there car is the only place you will get this plastic part.

Thanks for your help, everyone!
I examined the part carefully and realized that only one inner tab was slightly marred. So I gave putting it back on a shot and it fits snugly with no play. I think it will stay on fine, but I will check it frequently. It probably came off because I guess I got a little careless the last time I put it back on after testing the coolant temp sensor. The funny thing is I remember, maybe a week ago, hearing some unusually loud noise while I was driving and I said "what the hell was that??" I guess I know what it was now
