Thank you for your replies to my previous post about what to do before I fire up my 220D after a long storage. One more question, though.
There is a red cap marked "OEL" on the injection pump. I removed the cap and looked inside, then put a small screwdriver in there to see if there was anything. It is bone dry.
I believe OEL is oil, but should there be any there and if so, what type and how much?
I am not going to try to start this vehicle until I am sure that I have done evereything I can to protect the engine. Thanks again for your responses.

there is a plug on the side of the injection about 2in from bottom remove it add oil down tube of oel cap when oil drips out the plug hole its topped off when it quits dripping put the plug back in
