Just wondering if anyone can clarify what one does in the situation of the computer telling one to do a "Service D" (oil, oil filter, fuel filter, combination air filter) at 20K miles due to the car not being used enough??

Normally this service would be performed at 26K, and that is how the service guide booklet shows too?

Do I reset the computer once I perform these service items myself, or do I wait till 26K but still perform the service items now?

This is regarding an 06' E320 CDI.

Thanks for shedding any light on this matter in advance.

Were it me, I would trust the FSS. Not driving very much takes it's own toll, particularly if they are mostly shorter trips. DIY is excellent, but be sure you do not ignore the various inspections, they are key to finding potential issues before they become problems.

I will listen to the computer, and reset the computer, despite the 26K deal in the service booklet. I will also look at all the other items, I just did not list them.

I have been servicing my Sprinter CDI for 4 years, and this motor is similar, just having to remove the lower sound panels to do a proper drain will be a bit of a pain...

Look forward to my first service...

Thanks for the tips!

Items you need to do include a brake fluid flush every two years based on time not mileage. Thats the item thats making it a D service instead of just B.

Yes, I saw that.....I will do that myself as well.....I have the DIY brake flush guide from this forum on how to perform this. I will not be able to agitate the ABS but will replace 85% or so of the fluid using the method. I am also in a warm climate where I think the water in the fluid is a lot less likely then cold climates...

Super Dot 4 Super by PENTOSIN, or ATE?

Cheers

I basically did everything myself except brake fluid, I reset what I did on FSS and dealer reset the Service 9 (brake flush) and the FSS went back to Service A. The dealer also does a free 27 point check, so that covers the inspection #13 or #14

What were you charged for the flush?
