Not what I asked.
Nobby: oem Mercedes upper control arms are 1550 euro each in Germany (double price in Norway). I payed 160 euro for both (Febi Bilstein) on ebay. I think that is a good deal. I painted control arms and springs with Hammerite smooth black before reassembly. Looks and feels good enough for me:)

Cheaper than replacing the bushings and the ball joints?
As you know that the ball joints are welded on (at least on most). They can be drilled out and replaced. But at the price of the complete Febi, units hardly worth while. I think I sent my old UCAs, although hardly worn, to the dump ;) I changed them because local shop diagnosed the front end noise I was hunting down as bad upper ball joints. They were wrong!

Found the pedal for the windshield washers and tested my rebuilt squatter motor and pick your part reservoir and voila.
strong even blast from all 4 nozzles . Must bring a needle to fine tune alignment

Heres to small victories!!! Figured I would tell you guys. An old crusty racer/mechanic( Pepe Rodriguez) told me in my youth,
"Nobody else gives a shit"

Job #1 of my winter to do list. Brake rotors turned. Yes just turned the brake rotors. My previous attempt to just put new pads in left me with a shuttering break pedal. The previous pads were EBC Red stuff Ceramic. They were great at having very little dust but the cold breaking first thing in the morning and harsh feel was getting to me. An EBC representative sent me a free set of Yellow stuff pads which he stated makes dust like most pad but its an easier to clean dust and no cold breaking ill effects. They do seam to hold up to that claim with easy to clean dust and nice grip when warm.

Seals came in today for my intake manifolds, valve covers and timing cover. Tomorrow I get started on that. This is for the famous Bermuda Triangle seal area known to the 103, 104 and 120 engines. A real pain in the ass.

Part number check

A1153303807 left upper arm $137
A1153303907 right upper arm $135

That's about $140 euro each. Sounds like your being taxed 1400 euro for these. o_O

Be nice if you could install a video camera for us to learn how you are doing those tasks.
Have you thought about a YouTube video channel?

I have tried that, but it ends up taking me 10 hours to do a 1 hour job and the video always comes out like crap. That's why I feel the Mercedes Source videos are not a bad deal.

Here and there....try to source in Canada when possible.

I asked about the control arms as I never thought about replacing the whole assembly when I replaced the ball joints and bushings.

I've made a couple of videos and not only does it extend the time to do the job, I find the video editing very tedious and time consuming.

I may get round to putting together a sort of time lapse on the engine rebuild one day, when I'm totally incapable of doing anything else.

Sorry to hear that funfgang.

I sometimes buy parts from Europe, so did a little survey. I found that those upper control arms A1153303807 are sold by most vendors both in USA, UK and Germany all in region of 100 dollars, pounds or euros. Genuine MB parts only slightly higher than Febi and other aftermarket suppliers.

That site with the 1500 euro price must just be wrong. It seems like a poor site anyway - their parts catalog lookup is not working. As always, shop around :)

I have had juddering/shuttering on our E320 several times. Even after sanding the disc surfaces smooth. The juddering is apparently often caused by uneven deposit of pad material onto the discs. And it goes in quite deep, so my sanding didn't help that much. In the end, new discs and proper bedding-in got rid of the juddering. This even although the "bad" discs were from dealer, not worn much and 'looked' fine :( .

This is an article on subject I saved.

By the way, the E320's brakes have started pulsing again :( But it has been good for quite a few years. . Have to look at it after I get the 300D done (waiting for kit to rebuild rear calipers)

I am convinced if you really want smooooth breaks, your only option is genuine MB pads. Mercedes gave up on dust and went for smooth and quite.
