This is a newbie question, but here go's. There is a button on my center console that says: " ANT." If I press the button down, it's turned off, and up it's on max. What does this button do? Please help me here [:)] The car is a 79' 300D

Kind of looks like this:

"ANT"

In the middle or "rest" position the antenna will raise to the middle of it's height. In the "forward" or up position the antenna wil raise to it's full height. In the "down" or OFF position, the antenna will not go up at all. This is for playing tapes in the cassette player when you do not need the antenna. Your owner's manual should have a section on the dash swithches. The radio "ON" and "Off" switch should control the antenna too. Many times when an aftermarket radio has been installed, the installer did not hook up the antenna power line. If you have an aftermarket radio, your switch may not be active.

"THE ORIGINAL"

Glad you have your original radio. I know technology has advanced far beyond these old units, but it does add to the originality of the car to keep it as it should be! Glad we could help.[:D]
