This might sound like an idiot question but I just checked my rear brakes on my 1982 240D and they seem to be fine (to my knowledge) but they still sqeek when I begin to brake.

Any suggestions ? should I just chenge them ?

This is a common occurrence for these cars. You can either replace your existing pads with ones that have a anti squeal shim attached or buy shims seperately for the pads that you have. I think Textar pads and Pagid pads come with the shims attached. Try this website http://www.oem-mercedes-benz-parts.com/?source=googlep for either the new pads or the shims. Even then your brakes may still squeal some.
