So the car is starting right up and idles fine, but when I put it in any gear, the motor bogs down and dies.

I noticed when it is idling, if I pull any one of the last three sparkplug wires, the engine will have a very noticable change in the way it is idling, However,
if i pull any one of the front three sparkplug wires, there is no noticable change in the engine whatsoever.

I have adjusted the distributor timing every direction and its the same thing.

I do have an electronic ignition, with new coil.

It was not having this issue at all before i seized the camshaft bearing.

All of the sparkplugs are getting spark and they are new, non resistor copper plugs.

The carbs are in sync according to my air flow meter and its idling around 950 rpm.

Any ideas? M130 2.8 liter engine

Hummmmm...

Two conditions to ponder:

The valves are continously open on the front three cyls
The front three spark plugs are not firing

You have a strange condition since the engine idles smoothly at the specified rpm. Also, check your compression and if it is fairly balanced between cyls

I would verify that you are getting spark to the front three wires (you can get a light tester that plugs into the wire and then plugs into the spark plug and should flash as the engine is running.

What happens if you pull out more than one of the three that seem to do nothing? Will your car actually idle if you pull the 3 out?

Are you sure you have them plugged in in the correct order? (I don't mean to be insulting, it's just that what you are describing is a bit odd...)

Ok, so I am checked all of the above and everything looks like it should be. However, now I am thinking that it is a compression leak from the front three cylinders. I have a friend stopping by tomorrow with his compression tester. I will keep you guys posted.

BTW, just to test it out, I went ahead and pulled all the spark plug wires from the first three cylinders, and the car fired right up and held a nice idle! I taped it and will post it when I have some time.

Thanks for the help and suggestions guys. Keep them coming.

Not new engine
This engine was smooth before the camshaft bearings seized
Now it has high flow oil pump, new camshaft, new bearings and rockers
How did it lost compression all of a sudden?

I can think of one reason
When you did the bolts for the head to remove the camshaft you didn't torque them properly or the head gasket is done

If it idles this well on 3 cylinders, just think how nice it will be with 6 !!! I suppose you could have extremely oil-wet spark plugs in the front 3 cylinders....
