hey guys

in my cdn spec coupe, I have a day time running light relay behind the vertical carpet on the passenger side, where passenger's left calf would be

when I unplug it, my rear licence plate lights go off as well as 2 of the 4 tail lamps

I read somewhere that on the US cars (non DRL), there is plug that essentially shorts a few wires that allow the plate lights and the other 2 tails to come on

is that true?

has anyone ever looked to see what is plugged in there, and do u happen to know the part # of this plug so I could order it?

thx

but i see tons of cars without lights on during the day.. i'd say more than 50% of newer cars I see dont have DRL's

i have never been pulled over/ or stopped, even though i dont have rear plate lights.. i just figured its better to have them just in case

i read the mto book, and it says you need to have lights on from half hr before sunset, to half hr after sunrise and thats it, and also when weather conditions call for it (like a freak storm during the day when it looks dark)

Your right, but don't forget to replace the relay back on to pass inspections. Why do you want to get rid of them? Got this from another web-site:

"According to European Studies, such as those conducted by the SWOV Institute (The Netherlands), there are significantly fewer accidents in countries which require daytime running lights. These studies have been able to show that in Europe, the number of life-threatening collisions during the day could be reduced by 25 percent on average if daytime running lights were required."
