Either 450SLC 5.0 or 500SLC should be the badges. Not 500SLC 5.0. They are both 107.026 models. The third brake light is not original. Neither are the front turn signals on the bumper.

The VIN might help others to tell the model year and which it is.

Models years are often confused on grey market vehicles. I am no expert on this model but generally I thought '78-'79 were badged 450SLC 5.0 and '80-'81 were badged 500SLC.

I hope some of the experts will chime in.
In the meantime please use the UserCP to complete your profile with location and vehicle info.
There is nothing special about the fuel system. Same as similar models of that year.

Are there currently any problems you need to address? I saw the fan shroud is partially missing.

I think if you provide your VIN we can nail it down for you. I am not sure what number the model changed from 3-speed to 4-speed, but I think there were fewer 4-speeds made. But I also believe the 4-speed just has a starting gear to make it quicker off the line, but the 3-speed is a little more durable. That's my understanding.

I believe you will most likely have a 450slc 5.0 with that badging. Not may 500slc owners would see much point in adding a 5.0 badge (in my opinion) whereas 450slc 5.0 owners might have a minor inferiority complex. :D

You can probably check the EPC or the registry yourself if you don't want to post/provide your VIN.

I checked the registry that rowdie posted earlier and i found a matching vin. Im not sure what epc means.

What was your car listed as in the registry?

EPC is the Mercedes electronic parts catalog.

(It sounds like you know what you have by now, or you don't want to provide your VIN.)
